There are a bunch of misconceptions out there right now, some new, some old, and today we're going to go over the top three that seem to be making a bit of a splash right now.

You can't ask for a link
It's the one that's been around the longest, and it comes with the understanding that you can't actually request a connection. It's a big, huge myth in our business and what we do, but you can actually do it.

Relevancy isn't king
Relevance isn't the most important factor. So there's a big debate right now — and you can see a lot of it on Twitter and social media — that the links you create for conventional SEO and link building strategies have to be very, really, really important and absolutely on-brand from target sites and publications where you'd expect the brand to be protected.

Send pitches only in the morning.
Morning is the best time to pitch your campaigns or link-building material to journalists and authors. This is, once again, absolutely untrue.
